Some of what he says there suggests they feel they have an early mover advantage regardless, which I find really frustrating. But that's related to what I know exists worldwide, not just in the USA. Although even from that perspective...something like a USA style half ton just doesn't exist much outside North America...so as an NEV(New Energy Vehicle) it is sorta unique. I just get frustrated that China has decided this "new energy vehicle" approach where you base all your vehicles on some EV build is the way to go and are 100% correct and no traditional auto brands in the USA are reacting to that smarter way to do things faster than they have.

And then it's made even more frustrating in that I think USA in particular is the SMARTEST of all markets to use some EREV type vehicle to help get production volumes and battery builds scaled without necessarily needing to try and force feed folks BEVs where it'll never go over so well here vs other markets. So the whole NEV things makes probably MORE sense here than where the Chinese NEVs are allowed to compete.

Very well spoken discussion. If I was seeing this for the first time i'd be impressed. Unfortunately - this is full year two of varporcle - if I had not physically seen these vehicles in person on the road and on car haulers I'd be saying fake news and would have an R2 or some other vehicle in my driveway.

In weeks a Wagoneer REV is scheduled for production however we still have zero pricing or any other information. This is very strange.....

Still waiting to see if they actually commit to making in, maybe a 2030? This is how we all get a Ford.
I'm still a bit baffled over here that EREV wasn't the obvious approach everyone took for full size truck electrification out of the gate. Sorta crazy we might have to wait until 2030. I do sorta expect the Ram REV to make it out close to the current rumors of spring...but sorta waiting until the end of this month to hear what comes of the Jeep's actually getting delivered to someone.

Same here on both accounts. If the Jeep actually launches, I will be the first one around me to test drive the dam thing. I am getting a new truck this spring so it is up to Ram if they keep me as a customer or not. If there is another delay I will be getting a PowerBoost since it meets all of my needs even though I would prefer the REV. I don't hate the Hurricanes (especially in the mountains) but the lack of payload for a fully loaded truck stops me from even considering it.

I may be in camp Rotorhead as well, for different reasons and different outcomes. It may come down to Hurricane or something like an R1. Rural liver here so DC fast chargers are several miles away however doable. No mountains, just some moraines and hills. Not sure The R2 has the style of the 1500 though so .... who knows. Been on hold for 15 months and the rope is running out...
